Countryclub Fraud

Dear Experts,

We all here, went to shopping in some or the other place such as SPAR market, Reliance Mart etc, and got a free gift coupon just outside that. And later we got a call to invite us to collect a free holiday tour and some other gift along with it, from Country Vacations. We were invited to visit this office with spouse. So we visited and we had to attend this 90 minutes presentation before we could get our free gifts. So we attended that. This story goes same for all of us. In the presentation, various promises were made to buy their holiday package; few of them are listed below.
1. A week’s holiday for a year, so you buy the holiday for 5 years/10 years etc. And each year, whenever we want to book the holiday, if we do it in 45 days advance we get a week extra. And these holiday are promised to be at 3/4/5 star resorts/hotels
2. Each day of vacations are saleable with same price if not used.
3. Life time free membership to their all the current and forthcoming clubs in India and Abroad. All facilities of country club will be available free for lifetime across the world. Facilities like Gym, Swimming pool, squash court, dance academy for children, library, tennis, table tennis, badminton, pool table, AC party hall and etc. – None of these facilities exists in any of the clubs in PUNE, except swimming pool and a gym in one of the pune clubs.
4. Every club which is free for lifetime across the globe, has a beauty parlor and saloon which can be used by the couple and family free once in a month. – This doesn’t exist in clubs in Pune.
5. Along with this membership, we will get one year membership to Tasha, their new chain of SPA and Saloon absolutely free. – We have no idea, if it exists in Pune.
6. Up to 20% discount while shopping in any mall/shopping center. E.g. big bazaar, central mall etc. – Checked with Big Bazaar and Central Mall, they say, we don’t have any such tie up with Country Vacations.
7. Up to 20% discount while booking air tickets through CV website.
8. Full amount is refundable against cancellation anytime.
9. Free dinner on weekends in Country Club.
10. Free AC party hall available for any functions.
11. Not all but to some of us, a plot/land was promised to be allocated within a specific time at some area which is within 20 kilometers from Bangalore International Airport. Now when the plot/land was allotted after a longer the time that promised timeline, it was given in some village of some district of Andhra Pradesh. Now that is very wrong on company’s part.

Above mentioned are the most common false promises made by Country vacations to all of us. Now this kind of package is sold to various couple’s at variable prices, depends on how good bargaining you can do. And they also promise the EMIs to do the payment. So here is what they say, they have tie ups with various banks, and they have an arrangements with local authorities of the banks, so that if we use our credit card, bank will call in 2-3 days informing us that EMIs are done. But actually they take the full amount from the credit card, and when checked with bank, they say there is no such tie-up with the bank. So Couple has to pay full amount to the bank to avoid hefty charges that credit card lays on the holder. However HDFC, card does gives you the EMI facilities, however that is the offer from HDFC bank that is currently going on, and it has no tie up with Country Vacations as far as we know. So they sell HDFC’s currently going offer as their selling point as well.

They ask us to sign a paper which reads, EMIs will be customer’s responsibility and not country vacations. Reading this many of has asked them, why is that so? And their respective sales people very casually tell you, “Sir! That is for company formalities, we have setting with local authorities of the bank and we can get your EMIs done.” So a common man like all of us believes the words by sales people and get into this trap.

On top of this, when we asked for cancellation they show us that we signed the agreement which is not cancellable and they cannot refund the money. We spoke to customer care team of the same office, and they deny that any of the above mentioned promises were ever made by any of their sales staff.

So we applicants, consider this whole issue like this. “False and Unreal promises are made verbally to take the money and nothing of that sort will be put into the agreement and then they literally deny all the promises that were made by their sales folks. And this is happening across India, in all their office.”

We can read the review of this company's fraud all over the internet. also we have a few articles on the hindu and other, of bangalore edition which exposed this scam. and a few members did get their money back.

So all in all, we signed agreements, agreement does not talk about their false promises. So please suggest a way to get the refund.

Let us know for more details.

Regards,

Sunil Thacker
